Electronic waste Recycling

In today’s world of rapid technological progress, sophisticated electronic gadgets are constantly being introduced to the market. As new models become available, both residential and commercial users are quick to replace their old electronics with newer versions, even if the old devices are still functioning well. The allure of new features and improved technology makes it hard to resist upgrading.

Electronic devices are continuously being developed by innovators to enhance our quality of life in countless ways. However, this has led to a growing tendency to discard electronic equipment, no matter how well it has served us. For example, the concept of a “smart home” illustrates how many electronic devices can manage everything from security to controlling lights and brewing coffee. Despite their usefulness, a significant amount of these devices, including laptops, mobile phones, computers, and tablets, are being discarded as junk.

The Importance of E-Waste Recycling in Hyderabad

Electronic waste (e-waste) in India is growing at an alarming rate, increasing by about 25% each year. Hyderabad alone generates around 25,000 metric tons (MT) of e-waste annually, making it the sixth-largest e-waste generator in the country.

Unfortunately, only about 25% of this electronic waste is properly managed by authorized recyclers. A large portion of e-waste ends up with unauthorized handlers, such as local scrap shops or informal buyers, who often dismantle the equipment improperly. This not only poses environmental risks but also endangers public health. Proper e-waste recycling is crucial to ensuring safe disposal and reducing the harmful effects of improperly handled electronic waste.
